Things To Do This Christmas Holiday With Your Kids

Nicola Wiseman

School is almost out! With the Christmas Holidays fast approaching its easy to let the break slip away without having fun with your family. While not all of us have the luxury of taking a full two weeks off from life, this is the time of the year where the majority of us are able to slow down just a little bit. With festivities well and truly underway, it can be hard to come up with fun ideas, that’s why we have put together a list of some of the best activities for you and your children to do this holiday:

Arts & Crafts

Kids are often the most excited about this time on the year, so why not make some fun Christmas decorations with them. You can’t beat the classic paper chains or snowflakes. Or why not try something a little harder like straw snowflakes and egg carton Christmas trees.

Cook Together

Spending time in the kitchen is always a favourite way to pass time during those cold and snowy days. From toddlers to teenagers, all kids love the mixing and measuring of ingredients as well as the treats at the end. Why not try to make cupcakes and decorate them with marshmallow Snowman or build your very own gingerbread houses. Why not look at adding activities to keep the little ones engaged, or even simplify the baking process.

Winter Scavenger Hunt

This one takes a little additional work and planning but can be really fun for all those involved. Set up clues inside or even outside the house, be sure to also hide a few special items around the place as well, whether they are gold stars or chocolate treats. Theme it around the season or even get the kids to come up with their own checklist of things to find. The aim of the game is up to you, collect as many item as you can, or follow the clues to the end prize. This is perfect for all ages to enjoy, you could even look at pairing off into teams, kids vs grown ups is a popular option.

Have Fun In The Snow

Weather permitting this is always a fun one. Bring Frosty the snowman back to life this winter with your children or find the biggest hill and go sledging. Nothing beats wrapping up warm and heading outside, you could also look at going on a whole family adventure by going on a walk, enjoy your local scenery during this time of the year and even make a checklist of things to see whilst you are out. Make sure your kids are wrapped up with our warm waterproof kids jackets and children’s warm woolly hats

Local Holiday Events

There will be a lot to do around your local town during this time of the year, whether it is taking your little ones around to see all the lighting display. See if any Christmas shows or pantomimes are being played at your local theatre.  There are countless free and special events this time of year, and many of them only come around once a year, so don’t let the holiday break slip by without stepping out to see them!

Did you know that December is Write to a Friend Month and Read a New Book Month? There is no better way to enjoy the last month of the year by participating in these global events!
